Cosmos And I

A man said to the universe:

“Sir, I exist!”

“However,” replied the universe,

“The fact has not created in me

A sense of obligation.”

– Stephen Crane: A Man Said to the Universe

In the infinite sky, there are many stars and galaxies. The planets float around the stars and smaller satellites revolve around the planets. That is their truth. They follow their path, shine, and when their time is up, they explode and die. So, what meets your eyes when you look up? The blue smiling back at you, the clouds floating around, the birds singing and going about with their day, and the sun shining brightly in one corner that makes everything around us visible. We pray to the skies to fulfill our dreams. And the universe grants it to you. All the forces that keep the sun burning so brightly, the stars shining and, the planets revolving, all conspire to fulfill your dreams.

But do you have the strength to follow them? And to keep up with the wish that was made true to you? What do you do when the universe drops all your desires in your lap? What do you do next? Relax. Yes, for a while. Do you rejoice? Yes, for a moment. Can you continue on this trail of happiness and eternal satisfaction? No, you do not get that. This happiness has an expiry date. Then, what do you do? You look at the skies and implore the universe, again, for something else this time. The cosmos spins its gears once more to fulfill your wishes. Is the universe capable of giving you everything that you ask? Who knows? How long will you ask the universe for your yearnings? More importantly, what do you ask the universe? Some menial things, for which you don't want to put any hard work, such as lottery, fame, job promotion, wealth? Is it reasonable?

Instead, ask for courage and determination so that you can chase after your dreams yourself. False satisfaction from shallow intention will last only for a while.

Courage

Alfred North Whitehead: "True courage is not the brutal force of vulgar heroes, but the firm resolve of virtue and reason."

The one who knows courage knows how to choose their fears. They look in the eye of the fear and still take a deep breath, step back, and analyze appropriately the risk involved. Courage is the first of human qualities to be mastered because it is the quality that guarantees the others. It bolsters the self-confidence that empowers you to help others do the same. Take a chance. Step out of your comfort zone, broaden your horizon so that you can seize the opportunities as they present themselves.

Determination

It is the small voice at the fall the says, 'I can stand again.' Determination is a positive emotional feeling that involves persevering towards a difficult goal despite obstacles. It is the motivation that helps you going on through a difficult task. The determination to win is the better part of winning. The power of determination will make you unstoppable.

There is nothing to be scared of. Take a chance and step out of your bubble. The universe is there to guide you on your path.
