The Time Bloopers: From Slackers to SuperHeros

Updated: Aug 30, 2023

This weekend I had made up a few plans for myself. Some came to fruition, some remained unfulfilled (lost my time to Instagram reels). I got delayed owing to my entertainment and some chores took longer than I had anticipated. When I look at my habits, I see a pattern. I waste my time in the beginning and then rush at the end. Luckily, it is only limited to my personal endeavours. When things are in motion and I have to stop due to time constraints, that's when I wish I had not wasted time initially. At times like these, I am reminded of what my friend once said: "The time wasted now will be adjusted by working more in the upcoming hours." She doesn't regret wasting time. I have borrowed this as my philosophy as well. This mantra helps me in my personal growth and productivity mindset. I cannot bring back the past. I can only learn from it focus on my present and channel my energy into the hours ahead. It also helps me settle my anxious mind and put my effort in the right place.

Another thing I remind myself from time to time while planning is to not squeeze more items into your list. I always pressurise myself to lock all of them within this 24-hour frame. Not all happen as planned. I'm not able to cross all of the items from the list but I am able to keep a record of what I had planned and track my milestones. But this outlook does help me remember that we have limited time, accidents will happen, unforeseen obstacles may appear and plans will get delayed. So, there is no reason to stress yourself too much at the end of the day.

In the end, I guess this is how it's going to be. Philosophies are powerful but balance is the key all I can do is strive to find a healthy equilibrium between making the most of my time and allowing myself some flexibility for relaxation and self-care.
